Can I install Buoy myself?
If you are comfortable with household plumbing, you can install Buoy yourself using our installation guide. It's pretty simple! You can also choose to have it installed by any licensed plumber. If you live in the 831, 408, or 650 area codes, you can get a special flat-rate installation from our partners at Allterra Solar! Contact support@calliopewater.com for more information.
What's an installation kit and will I need one?
Buoy ships ready to install on a straight run of 13" of pipe, but can fit into a minimum of 4"of pipe space with our installation kit. If you're not sure what you need, your installer can advise you at the time of installation.
Where do I install Buoy?
The short answer is that Buoy is usually installed right next to your "house valve" - your home's water main shutoff. Depending on where you live, that might be right next to your front door, or perhaps in a basement. The longer answer is that it can be installed anywhere along your water main line, after the city's meter and before your plumbing branches.
Is the app available for all smartphones and devices?
Yes! We have a complete web application, plus mobile apps for both iOS and Android.
When will my pre-order be charged to my credit card?
You will not be charged until your order ships.
Is my payment information secure?
Your payment information will be securely stored with Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available. Payment information is transmitted using SSL encryption.
Will sales tax be applied?
Yes.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel your order anytime up until it ships.
When will it ship?
Buoy's first batch of pre-orders is on track to ship in the fall of 2016. We want to ensure we deliver the highest quality product and as soon as we receive completed units, we will be shipping them first to our pre-orders!
What countries do you ship to?
US only.
How much will be added for shipping?
We will add $20 flat fee for shipping.
Is there a warranty on the product?
We are offering a 1 year warranty on the product after shipping.
Does Buoy need a power supply anywhere near it?
AC adapter preferred. Battery only mode is also supported but not recommended. Depending on operation, you will need to recharge the battery every 2 months - 1 year.
Does Buoy require WiFi?
You do need WiFi! 802.11b/g are fine. Also, there is no ongoing subscription fee. The data service is free for life.
